Case Studies

Years of focus and persistence have enabled our team to accumulate extensive theoretical and practical experience. Through requirements analysis of most domestic TV stations and performance analysis of comparable international products, we developed a complete, efficient, and advanced Unified Control Platform (iSwiftMedia) for production and playout systems. The platform has been deployed at multiple provincial and municipal TV stations nationwide. The automation control systems built for CCTV, Chongqing TV, Nanjing TV, and Hangzhou TV received the Science and Technology Innovation Award from the National Radio and Television Administration (broadcast industry regulator), serving as a model for successful automation and intelligent operation of TV production and playout systems.

Cloud Monitoring applied to CCTV mobile field IP audio systems

China Central Television (CCTV)

I. Background

AES67, published in 2013, is now the official AoIP interoperability standard and has gained tremendous momentum in the industry. AES67 has won support from a critical mass of vendors, with a growing number of fully compliant technology providers and several AES67-compatible versions. Forward-thinking equipment manufacturers have fully embraced AES67. AES67 enables interoperability, allowing broadcasting users to build unified networked audio systems using AES67-compliant audio equipment. Based on these technology trends and industry developments, CCTV's audio department and our team jointly developed an intelligent Unified Control Platform (iSwiftMedia) targeting professional AES67-based audio production and playout systems.

To ensure safe, high-quality live broadcasting for events such as the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, our company designed a dedicated EFP audio system for China Central Television (CCTV)'s mobile field 4K/HD studio audio/video system, providing high-performance mixing consoles including Lawo MC²36 and Lawo MC²56. We built two field audio production systems capable of handling large-scale sports event packaging programs, incorporating AoIP technology for interoperability to address production needs of varying scales. We also provided the newly developed Cloud Monitoring software to enhance the system's manageability and intelligence.

VI. Project Timeline and Operational Results

The Cloud Monitoring project completed system commissioning and testing from mid to late 2017, and was delivered together with the mobile field IP audio system in 2018. It has been running stably since then. During 2018, the Cloud Monitoring software participated in live productions at the Winter Olympics, Asian Games, World Cup, and other major events alongside the mobile field IP audio system. Its powerful detection and monitoring capabilities, intelligent user experience, intuitive interface, comprehensive data collection and analysis, and full reporting capabilities received wide recognition, particularly from program production teams from other countries and equipment manufacturer experts. As one of the most important auxiliary systems, Cloud Monitoring safeguards safe, high-quality playout for CCTV's mobile field IP audio system. Together with the mobile field IP audio system, this software was awarded the 2018 Broadcasting Film and Television Science and Technology Innovation Second Prize.
